Charles Burtis Boudreau arrives

Charlie was born at 4:03 p.m. after a smooth & quick C-section. He was a tiny mite compared to his brother (who was almost 9 pounds at birth) -- Charlie weighed-in at 6 pounds even and measured 20 inches long. For a 34 week-old baby, that was actually very big, and it helped him get off to a strong start despite his early arrival.

Fully baked

Just two days before giving birth to Charlie. I was certainly *feeling* like I couldn't keep expanding for 5 more weeks without bursting -- little did I know how right I was!

Crazy games

Toby and Gagada finish up an inning of "hit the balloon up the stairs with a hairbrush," just one of many games they invent together daily.

First suitcase

Toby heads out for a walk with his new Thomas the Train suitcase from Gagada, the last birthday gift of the day. He filled it with his little trucks, rolled it down to a muddy puddle and pulled out the trucks for some construction work. The perfect afternoon project to wrap up a perfect birthday.

Message from Madison

Toby listened over and over again to the voice mail "Happy birthday" song sent by his Madison family.

Truck!!

Toby spies another new gift. (Where does he get those expressions?) His presents were virtually all vehicular, which Thrilled him. Even those gifts that were very round or very flat were deemed by Toby to be a "Truck!" before they were opened.

Happy! Sing! Again!

Toby loooooved having everyone sing "Happy birthday" to him, and requested the song over and over again all day (we were happy to oblige). Maia proved a big help blowing out the candles on his "heavy construction"-themed cake.

An artist's perogative

Maia subtly slipped most of the cupcakes' cool whip frosting straight into her mouth...

Toby turns 2!

Toby, Taka and Maia dug into their art project at Toby's birthday party, decorating cupcakes with all manner of treats and toys. Check out the new art table and chairs that Jack painted for Toby!

Hamming it up

Collin pulled these out of his party-favor basket and used great comic talent when modeling them for all of us.

Birthday kick-off

After a weeks-long obsession with the general concept of birthdays, Toby was a bit stunned when the cake and candles started coming his way. His birthday celebration kicked off early with an excellent party with the Cheneys.

Ganging up on Jer

Toby, Jack and Jer had a hoot doing "yard work" (i.e., throwing grass and leaves at each other) when Jer visited from WA. Jer also used his medical training to show Toby how to pretend he was pregnant by stuffing a soccer ball under his shirt. Wish I had a picture of that.

Two toasty muffins

Snapped just before giving night-night kisses...

Bubbles!

Collin and Toby had a ball in the bath together, as always -- this time smearing each other with bubbles.

Snuggle

Toby got in some excellent mucking with Aunt Dawn and Daddy when Dawn and Collin visited in early March.
